Make a scrap book of all my memories of my time at university. I have actually made a slight amendment to this one.

Instead of finishing absolutely everything off, I’ve decided to complete the book itself, arrange my files, prepare my photos and layout my stuff.

The reason for this is that I’ve realised that this is truly an endless task. I could rush through it and create a half decent document. Or, if I take my time and produce a really good piece, I’d have a piece of my own history to savour for the rest of my life.

Treat it a bit like the Sagrada Familia of scrap book projects.

So, although I have simplified my task, the task is still far from simple.

It began with ordering photos. 650 of them or thereabouts. I took them from my own collections as well as off facebook of course. And, to keep costs down, but the quality of the photos  still relatively high, I searched out the cheapest deals on the net. This website became very handy.

Having all those delivered and finding the plastic bags of paper nuggets I had accumulated from the past 3 years, I now had to develop the book. Many years ago, my mum purchased a couple of kids scrap books for me. There are only 2 of these A3 beauties I only hope they will be enough. Taping them together I moved onto the next task.

Arranging items for the cover. Easy enough. Just picked out my fav picks from the past few years plus my uni card and sellotape em to the front.

It was at this point that I made a considerable decision about the future of this task. I had opted for a sellotape adhesive option instead of the more conventional scrap book adhesive of the glue stick. It’s just a lot more effective and means the paper isn’t going to warp as much, hopefully.

And then, the fun begins. Watching the end of my Star Wars sesh for #53, I begin arranging photos into a rough chronological order, dividing them by year, then periods of the year. And for the events through that year, these are what will make up the pages.

So, the first few pages have my ‘Welcome to Exeter’ letters and UCAS stuff and the first photos I took in my flat, etc… Then we moved onto Freshers Fortnight, then my first ramblings round Fal, then the West Penwith fieldtrip. I won’t go through all the sections cos that will just be dull but you get the picture.

After this stage, I will then go back and write little passages or memories that will probably fade or hide over the years. Best to preserve them like jam as soon as I can.

And, there we have it. One (partially finished) university scrap book. Gaudi would be proud.
