I’m a big fan of Marcus Brigstocke.
Growing up and still living in a house dominated by the voices of Radio 4, I have enjoyed his contributions on Just a Minute and occasionally The Now Show. Would love to see his live stuff.
But then, after having separately developed my list, I realise he has a series called I’ve Never Seen Star Wars. It takes celebs and gets them to try new things. He hadn’t seen Star Wars.
And here I am about to settle into a non-stop Star Wars trilogy session… That’s more than a little freaky.
Star Wars is one of those huge cultures that I know loads about but haven’t actually seen. I know the stories, I’ve played with Lego designed like Star Wars characters, I’ve played Star Wars video games, I’ve even played Lego Star Wars video games.
So, Star Wars has now been watched. I’m afraid I’m not including the new ones in this because I have actually seen the first one at the cinema with my McDonald’s Happy Meal JaJa Binks toy.
But, the original trilogy VI, V and IV, a lot more entertaining than I was imagining. Loving the robot banter between C-3PO and R2D2. Those fluffy things in the last film are jokes too. Also, the graphics are pretty good I thought, considering the late-70s/early 80s time frame.
And, I never knew Darth Vador turns out to be a dude! That’s made my day, I always thought he was a sweetie at heart. I would like to know how many hours were spent over doing Leia’s hair, so that it looks immaculate in every scene. But, I’m sure that’s the same with all actresses I guess.
As far as reviewing the film, that’s as much as it gets from me. It had a lot of family entertainment. All the creatures seemed quite friendly in the end. Storyline mildly predictable but this is to be expected seeing as I did already know it. Best thing for me, as with most films, the score was beautiful. John Williams pulled off a blast on this one. Good work.
And, what’s most amazing… only fell asleep once!
